Tell us about your role at Cenozon.
I moved to Canada from India to further my studies in GIS (Geographic Information Systems). I had never considered working in the Oil and Gas industry until moving to Alberta. My Masters in Technology in Computer Science along with my studies in GIS at SAIT helped me to get hired at Cenozon in November 2014 in the role of Pipeline Data Analyst. My responsibilities at Cenozon include building up schematics, assisting in client field reviews, data analysis, mapping services and training new hires for the service team.
What brought you to Cenozon? What do you like most about working here?
I joined Cenozon as an Intern to do my practicum while I was studying at SAIT. I have worked here for almost two and a half years. In that time, I have enjoyed working with Cenozon’s diverse team of employees. The team at Cenozon is very close knit and works together to give the best service and value to our clients.
Which of our values do you most identify with and why?
Customer Service: I have been working with multiple client projects nowadays which gives me the chance to communicate directly with clients and assist them with technical issues. I adjust my workflow based on their priorities. Meeting tight deadlines and getting the ahead of the task assigned have always been my top priorities.
Tell us about your life outside of Cenozon.
I love being outdoors in the summer doing such things as hiking, kayaking, biking. Even just walks by the lake are something I really enjoy.
I was the first member of my family to study abroad. My younger brother followed in my footsteps and has been studying Business Management in Winnipeg since September 2016. We talk/chat almost every day.
My parents are still in India. My father works as an engineer at the Punjab state power corporation and my mother works as an arts and crafts teacher at public school in India. My grandmother lives with them and enjoys her retirement.
What’s your favourite food?
When it comes to food I’m not a picky eater. Being a true Northern Indian Punjabi (Punjab is one of the states in India) I love chicken dishes especially butter chicken and chicken tikka. I had never had red meat when I was in India and trying it here was a very different experience for my taste buds. Thanks to my colleagues at Cenozon I am always trying new foods.
Who inspires you?
I was the most pampered and loved grandchild to my grandparents. Both of them were educators and retired from their jobs when I was only one year old. As my parents worked full time, my grandparents looked after me for nearly the whole day. Until I started school they taught me about basic alphabets (English, Punjabi and Hindi) and basic maths. So basically I have learned three languages my national language, my state language and English. From them I learned the importance of punctuality, consistency, physical fitness, hard work.
Any hidden talents?
I like to cook homemade meals and try to experiment with my cooking.
