On April 24, 2017, Cenzon attended CAPPA’s lunch presentation to learn more about what is being done in the industry to reduce methane emissions in Alberta. Mark Taylor, SVP at the AER presented their plan for methane reductions.
If you were unable to attend the presentation, we’ve provided a summary and a copy of the presentation below.
With the new 45% emission reduction targets, it’s important to quickly locate and evaluate potential areas of concern. Metering schematics measure important data from the wellhead to pipeline, which shows your gas, oil, and emulsions as it goes through your facilities. It can pinpoint areas of concern such as your compressors, tanks, venting, and flaring which is potentially where there are higher concentrations of emissions being released into the air.
The regulatory environment is changing and the industry will need to adapt to new methods and technologies, such as Measurement Schematics software, to simplify processes, centrally store statistics, and provide accurate data for compliance and Provincial financial incentives.
